SKI-TREKKING: EQUIPMENT: SNOWSHOES

Show shoes are a very useful and simple tool for people who practise mountain sports in the winter, and will help us to move about in deep snow. Many centuries ago the Central Asia people who migrated to North America through the Bering route wore snow shoes. Nowadays it is a simple but fascinating and fun activity for those who want to explore the mountain in winter without being a skier or an alpinist: a simple walk in a snowed forest.

The main purpose of the snow shoes is not to get stuck in the snow while walking. They are the best invention for those days that we have to walk in deep snow, cross flat land or slightly sloped, get through a snowed forest or get on foot to a corridor. A pair of telescopic ski sticks will also be great help to uphold, they are necessary either going uphill or downhill.

Other very important activity to practise with snow shoes is winter trekking. If our aim is only to go up hillocks to enjoy a winter trail, to walk around in the forest or to go from one shelter to another, snow shoes will be a great help to enjoy the places, without them walking would be a difficult task. To cross the forest opening the way without getting stuck in the snow is a very delightful experience, and people who are not interested or can not improve skiing, can get close to the mountain in winter.

Snow shoes will, in the end, give us a wide range of opportunities for our winter mountain activities. Using them will avoid painful, dangerous situations; they are easy to use and to carry, two important points to take into account. They will be a great discovery for many of us.
